The University of Birmingham Department of Political Science and International Studies is offering postgraduate research studentships, starting in September 2009, for doctoral degrees in the principal research areas of the Department: Asian politics; diplomatic studies; European politics; international relations theory; international political economy; political sociology; political theory; and security studies.

Departmental Award studentships are sponsored by the University of Birmingham, and provide full funding and living expenses for a period of three years. In addition, there will be opportunity to teach, for additional remuneration.

The deadline for applications for Department Awards is 26 June 2009.
In addition, all research students in the Department are eligible to apply for funding to attend conferences and conduct fieldwork.

The University of Leeds is offering at least twelve Fully-Funded International Research Scholarships (FIRS), which are available for high quality international students who will be commencing PhD research study from Session 2009/10.
